Samsung Partners With Klaytn to Make Galaxy Note 10 Crypto Friendlier
On Thursday, the world’s largest smartphone maker, Samsung will start selling a new version of its flagship phablet Galaxy Note 10, marketed as “KlaytnPhone,” The Wall Street Journal reported, citing undisclosed people familiar with the matter.
The only difference from the regular version the USD 1,000 phone-tablet has is that it comes with a cryptocurrency wallet and blockchain apps installed, the report said. KlaytnPhone buyers will also reportedly receive an unspecified amount of Klay tokens, the native token of Klaytn, a blockchain platform, launched by another South Korean giant, Kakao Group. Moreover, the device will support transactions on the Klaytn network. The phablet to be sold in South Korea only.

As reported by Cryptonews.com in July, Kakao Group was holding discussions with Samsung about possible blockchain cooperation and about updating its Samsung Blockchain Wallet to make it compatible with Klaytn bapps (blockchain applications).
The mainnet of Kakao’s Ground X subsidiary Klaytn has recently gone live, and Kakao said that it is working on a cryptocurrency wallet that will be able to manage Klaytn tokens “in conjunction with several wallet providers.”
Ground X has already amassed a number of high-profile partners, including business giants LG and Samsung – and banking partners such as Union Bank of the Philippines (also known as UnionBank).
In August, Samsung confirmed that its cryptocurrency wallet is supported on its newest flagship phablet, Galaxy Note 10.
