Cryptocurrency platform Wirex Japan Limited officially became a member of type II of the Japan Virtual Currency Exchanges Association (JVCEA). This is the penultimate step to the ability to provide a full range of services to customers in Japan.
Wirex Japan Limited, a subsidiary of the Wirex Limited payment service, has undergone a thorough assessment of all compliance processes with regulatory safety requirements and KYC/AML for 18 months.
We welcome the level of due diligence demonstrated by the JVCEA. Following their rules, we guarantee that Wirex remains at the highest global standards for regulatory compliance and safety. We are proud to get Type II membership for Wirex, which brings us closer to a full-fledged job in Japan, said CEO Wirex Pavel Matveev.
The next Wirex goal is getting of Type I membership, which will establish the platform as a legitimate provider of crypto asset exchange services and will be issued by the Japan Financial Services Agency (FSA). If this effort is successful, Wirex will be the 20th company to reach this milestone.
Note that Wirex has more than 2 million users in 130 countries, and the total volume of operations is more than $ 2 billion.
In August 2018, the Wirex platform became the third company to receive a license from the United Kingdom’s Financial Regulatory and Supervision Authority (FCA) to conduct electronic money transactions (E-money).
