According to coordinator Danny Ryan, the launch of the public test network Ethereum 2.0 will take place in two weeks. Ryan hopes that this weekend the specifications needed to run the testnet will be finalized.

He emphasizes that the team would not want to launch a more coordinated test network until they approve the specifications for version 0.9. The team will need two more weeks to do some things related to the testnet and release updates for 0.9 version.

Adrian Manning, the developer of the Lighthouse client for Ethereum 2.0, says that he was working on a public test network capable of interacting with the first version of Ethereum.

According to information published by Ryan on GitHub, a deposit contract is currently being standardized which will allow funds to be transferred from the first version of Ethereum to the second.

It was previously reported that Ethereum 2.0 developers intend to increase the target shard block size by 8 times. According to Danny Ryan, this will allow maintaining high network bandwidth in the conditions of initially a small number of shards working in the network.

Also earlier, Binance Research researchers came to the conclusion that the launch of Ethereum 2.0 will significantly increase the potential of the staking industry.
